Cute Little MCM Side Table

This table is our newest piece.  We brought it home just the other day and today I started looking it over and brainstorming just how I wanted to freshen it up.  I love this table and think it would look so cute as an accent table in a living space or a perfect nightstand in a modern bedroom.  It isn’t stamped with a company name, but as I have been inspecting it, it is clear that this table is a quality one.  The only small imperfections I can see are the little gaps in the cane on the doors, which are visible in this photo as well as a small notch in the inside of the cabinet.

The top, sides, legs and doors are all made with solid wood, which is something you don’t always find with this ‘era’ of furniture.  Having such a great quality solid wood top, makes me want to sand and stain the top again.  Yet I can’t decide as of now if I should add a little color to this table as well.  I was originally toying with the idea of just painting the inside of the cabinet and refinishing the outside.  I think this would look fun and unique, however without opening the cabinet doors would the table look that much different?  Any ideas for me?
