Shutter Styles

Board and Batten

This straightforward type of shutter works well with many different architectural styles. The simple design contributes to their wide appeal and versatility. The shutter width can be adjusted by varying the quantity or width of the individual vertical boards. Typically, our shutters feature 5/4 x 6 and 5/4 x 4 vertical boards and 1 x 4 horizontal boards (or battens).

Z-Shaped Board and Batten (Barn Door Style)

The Z-shaped (or barn door style) board and batten shutters cam give more personality to your home’s exterior. They can be installed using a track to enhance the farmhouse feeling.

Shutters with raised or recessed panels are a slightly more formal option. These shutters can be painted or stained and are a good fit in the colder climates especially the Northeast.

If you are looking for a very unique effect, consider a  chevron style shutter. In the chevron, the wooden pieces run point to point and the ends are cut at an angle to create a continuous zigzag design (see  picture below). This shutter style is inspired by the HGTV show Fixer Upper.
